Amazon How is data different from information? How is information different from knowledge? How knowledge is different from experience? What are examples of each? Data can be thought of in different ways but one explanation is that computers dwell in data, a building block for storage and retrieval.

In this analogy, information would be the aspect that is able to give data the meaning and context needed, at which point, the human process of using data and information to build knowledge which can eventually lead to the broader concept of wisdom, which represents creating principles, or patterns, from knowledge (Doyle, 2014) The Company chosen is Amazon for the following questions.

Using a company of your choosing as an example, detail the components of their value chain? Which components comprise the primary activities? Which components comprise the support activities? What is the extended value chain? Amazon has grown to an online retail giant by offering innovative strategies to supply chain management and Amazon's supply chain acts to provide the company a competitive advantage in the market.

Their primary components of the value chains include the sourcing of goods through the supply chain and having an advanced logistical system that is able to deliver these goods in an efficient manner. The support activities include a range of services such as electronic delivery of shipping information to customer service, as well as functions such as marketing and accounting that support the primary value creation in the value chain.

The challenges can be great in the realities of managing a global supply chain, fast-moving, on-demand, consumer goods market, management realizes that the longer supply chain and historic planning practices brought with them a distinct set of challenges (Mellen, Allen, & Prokopets, 2010). Thus the extended value chain would represent a broader inclusion of the supply chain into the creation of value and also consider partners and suppliers. Other services such as peer recommendations could also represent alternative sources of value creation from the consumer perspective.

The completeness of data refers to the how the data is compiled relative to the sample of total data that is available.

The consistency of the data would represent the data's ability to correctly represent some factor over time and in different contexts. The uniqueness of the data gives the data the opportunity to be used as some basis for making a decision. Finally, the timeliness of the data represents how quickly the data is collected and how long the data represents its intended object.
