The American Rescue Plan of 2021 exhibits many of the biblical principles espoused in the bible. The play provided many relevant elements related to education policy within the United States. These policy mandates included the “Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund,” emergency assistance to non-public schools, support for historically black colleges and universities, and improvements to student aid administration. This education policy is very consistent with many biblical principles. For example, the concept of natural role has roots in biblical teachings. Here, natural law is the belief of moral entitlement inherent within every human being. Education and more appropriately “Enlightenment” is central tenet of these natural laws. Here, it is important to have a civilization that not only looks to enhance their understanding of the natural world, but does so with though the foundation provided by biblical principles. These right to knowledge and education is therefore inalienable and is conferred to individuals irrespective of race, sex, or affiliation. As it relates to the constitutional authority of the federal government to become involved in education policy, they have the right to enact laws that can govern the nation. The Supreme Court, and their respective branch of government is designed to interpret and provide an opinion on the laws enacted by congress (Crutsinger,, 2021).
Can
The likelihood of the American Rescue Plan being enacted is high. For one, the nation has often had a strong proclivity towards education and its merits to society at large. Education spending as a percentage of GDP is the highest in America relative to any other developed nation in the world. This is indicative of the willingness of society to subsidize and fund improvements to education. This is a welcomed benefit it as it allows the country to continue its leadership position as it relates to innovative new technologies. This ultimately will help the country to flourish as economic indicators such GDP, incomes, and wealth continue to rise (Elis, 2021).
From a financial feasibility perspective, the American Rescue Plan can cause a large disruption to the national debt and overall budget deficit. Here, due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic, tax revenues and overall budget revenues for the period were extremely depressed. The same applies to state governments who were also grappling with large budget deficits and an inability to pay for emergency services. The American Rescue Plan ultimate required a large amount of government debt to fund the initiatives within the policy (Crutsinger, 2021). Although feasible currently, the ramification of the policy will be felt long into the future. Further complicating the issue is the pending rise in interest rates which will make debt expenditures much more expensive in the future. This interest expense can ultimately cause economic unrest in the event the government is unable to pay its debts. However, the need for the plan was heavily influenced by the financial burden of not only American citizens but the residual impact on governments and the rest of the economy. Be intervening with the current educational policy, American government has helped to mitigate many of the loses and economic catastrophes that were destined to occur (Jagoda, 2021).
Should
From a biblical perspective, the government should engage in the current economic policy. For one, it aligns with many of the biblical principles related to education, enlightenment, and personal development. These principles have underpinned American civilization for centuries and will continue to do so, as long as citizens are willing to do the required work. Likewise from a biblical perspective, it is acceptable for the masses to pool resources together to better improve the life of others who are less fortunate. In this case, many middle- and lower-class families were disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The American Rescue Plan will ultimately be heavily subsidized by wealthy tax payers and corporations. In this instance, those who are well-off will be helping to care for those who are not. This is a core tenet of the bible and reflects the need for selflessness in the face of adversity. This adversity has typically come in the form of temptation from Satan, but can also come from adversities related to general life. It is important for society to pull together to help one another succeed so that society as a whole can succeed (Schroeder, 2021).
