Unlike school phobia, they are fearful in a variety of situations. A recent immigrant may be experiencing a culture clash with the school environment due to linguistic or cultural barriers, but even at home, students suffering from E/BD disorders experience alienation, social difficulties, and may even show responses that their parents find bizarre. These children do not merely have a conflict with a specific child or teacher, rather they have difficulty relating to their peer group, teachers, and family members all of the time.
