The first article tries to give an explanation of how the common core standards which are English and Language arts lack the ability of career ready and college students' development.

The second article on the other hand contradicts this belief that the core standards English and Language arts have the ability of diminishing the ability of students to have a reflection on just their experiences in life. The topic of common core standards is a very important one to education and therefore it is important to explore both sides of this particular coin as they have been brought on in these two articles.

The topic on common core standards is important since it forms a basis for students ahead of their college or career life. This implies that we have to thoroughly examine this topic in order to make the correct decision which will help these students as the progresses in their next stage of life either college or as they start their careers.

This paper will give a brief summary of these two articles generally an overview of what these tow articles are all about.it will also give a critique of these two articles which is a critical analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of both articles. A personal reaction is also included in the paper which is an insight of how I thought of these tow articles.

Finally there will be an application which is an explanation of how these two articles relate or could relate to my own experience or my experiences in the future. "UNCOMMONLY BAD Academic Questions" Summary The article Uncommonly Bad Academic Questions was written by Robbins, J in 2013.in this article the author tries to give an explanation of how the common core standards lack the ability to develop students that are either career ready or furthering into college education.

The article argues that the common core standards are meant for K-12 aged students that have the ability of easily transition into employment or college. This design enables students to decide whether they will pursue a degree or go towards the path of vocational education. This common core standard was designed in order to create an improvement in American schools while at the same time encouraging their goals and enhancing school to work opportunities.

The author gives a suggestion that with the core standards n palace students will lack the ability to which will enhance the student's literature as well as their understanding. Critique This article clearly explains to the reader the concept of common core standards and elaborately explains the reasons to why it came about. The strength of this article is how clearly the author brings out his points in such a way that any one who is reading the article understands the point he wants to bring out.

The weakness of this article is the fact that the author concentrates so much on the negative side of common core standards leaving no room for readers to get a chance of exploring any positives about the topic. Personal reaction I personally believe that common core standards are a good design which needs to be used in schools. I differ with the views of the author totally.

Application This article relates to my experience such that I have had the fruits of common core standards hence I can be able to argue with those who believe that it is not of great benefit.

"Common core as tactical advantage" Summary The article common core as a tactical advantage written by Bauerlin, M in 2013 is one which contradicts the belief that common core standards diminish the ability of a student to reflect upon their experiences in life .the author beliefs that the design of the core standards can not allow more flexibility among students when it comes to the exploration of other existing literature options that will in turn allow these students to become all rounded and diverse.

According to the author teachers explore the world history and not English literature. In fact he states at he standard does not allow only specific works but through the reading of new and relevant readings the students will be able to adopt heir current, and future academic as well as endeavors in their careers. Critique The author was quite elaborate in his article and brings out the topic in an explicit way.

He gives a good explanation such that anyone reading the article believes in the benefits of common core standards. Another positive thing about the article is that the author.
