¶ … Corporate citizenship and public relations: The importance and interactivity of social responsibility issues on corporate websites," is a study of the importance corporations give to social issues through an examination of various corporate websites. Because the Internet has become the public relations tool of choice for many corporations, the authors' study focused on the ability to present their interest in social responsibility through their websites as well as the ability of visitors to interact. The inclusion of the Global Reporting Initiative as the basis of their study both helps to support their conclusions but also provides support against them. It is created by the top scientists in the world but they also happen to openly advocate for environmental concerns instead of corporate ones. But the inclusion of some of the top corporations on the Spanish Stock Market helps to support the legitimacy of the study.

Unit 3 Journal

My personal writing process involves a writing as much as I can on the topic and then go back to rewrite and revise. After I have completed the writing assignment I leave it alone for a while and only then return to rewrite, revise and edit. I believe that my process allows for uninterrupted thought flow as well as rewriting and revising. My process is not so different from the writings as my original writing session is similar to a combination of the prewriting and drafting stages and I also allow for time to come back to the writing and rewrite, revise, and edit.

Unit 4 Journal

My article, "Corporate citizenship and public relations: The importance and interactivity of social responsibility issues on corporate websites," was written by Paul Capriotti, member of the faculty at University Rovira Virgili in Spain. It was published in 2006 in the prestigious journal Public Relations Review. This article is appropriate according to the standards put forth in the KU Guide to Successful Writing as the author is a member of a prestigious university and the journal is accepted as legitimate by the scientific community.

Unit 5 Journal

When organizing ideas for a project or presentation I usually begin with an outline. I like to organize my thoughts into a clear and orderly list and then rearrange them so they are in a logical and informative order. This is similar to the KU Guide to Successful Writing in that I first use an outline to list my thoughts and then reorganize them into a logical and flowing presentation.

Unit 6 Journal

My drafting process begins with an attempt to sum up the paragraph with a single introductory sentence. I then try to fill the reader in with the information that I just stated with a few sentences. Each paragraph is based on my outline and is a self-contained element of the overall paper. Like the KU readings, I also base my drafting on an outline but unlike the readings I like to have an introductory sentence explaining what the paragraph is going to be about.

Unit 7 Journal

Sometimes when another person created information necessary for my writing project I will incorporate it. When I feel that a quote, idea, illustration, or other such information would enhance my writing I will use it in my writing and cite that person's creation in my paper. But the citation must come from a legitimate source such as an academic paper or some other such source. I was not fully aware that a citation was necessary when paraphrasing someone else's ideas, as stated in the KU Guide to Successful Writing, but I will incorporate this into my future writing.
