Creating an App for New School Students

Student App Mission Statement

Our mission: to introduce and integrate members of the student body through a smart phone application which will allow them to trade, buy, and sell to other students creating a sense of community and promoting sustainability.

Too often new students enter a campus and become instantly overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things they need to do. Most students will be alone for the first time in their lives, being responsible for their needs and desires without being able to rely on parents or other adults. They are the adults now and it is terrifying! Wouldn't it be nice if instead of approaching their first semester with a feeling of dread, students could instead click a few buttons on their iPhone or android and instantly have access to other people in the same position as they themselves are in? There is such an application in existence. Our app promotes sustainability, community building, unity and a commonality among members of the student body, as well as saving time which is all too important for students.

It is the intent of this group to see our new smart phone application utilized by members of the student body around campus. People who download this app will automatically be linked to other members of the student body and will be able to share, sell or trade materials and textbooks, art supplies, clothing, art works, furniture, designs, and anything else that a person might need to succeed in college. For many students, this will be their first experience with a social network and marketing application. The experience, if positive, will encourage them to participate in other forms of social networking for both personal and business resources.
