However, does this apply to every situation based off his theory? Is survival of the fittest applicable in statistics? How about natural selection? One will investigate further the theory of evolution by discussing probability and many other factors involved. Every person who believes in evolution thinks that the earth is four billion years old sometimes more or less depending on his or her viewpoint.
In order for anything to appear true, species and the origin of everything has to go from simple to complex organisms. Charles Darwin mentions that all life came out of former existence (Darwin, 2003). Is this really true, though? Instead of using five billion years, let us use 13 billion instead. One can assume that all of these days were good. Furthermore, one needs to discuss statistics to see how this may or may not work with the concepts of evolution (Darwin, 2003).
What are the actual chances that if somone tosses a coin, he or she will get heads? This is usually 1/2 or 50%. In regards to a die, a person has a 1/6 possibility. Now if one combines the coin and the die, the probability is a 1/12 likelihood. Additionally, when an individual throws either, this does not mean that a head will always occur and a six with the die. This does mean that if anyone throws for a certain period of time, that both of these possiblities will occur (Nielsen, 2005).
Now one can make this more complicated. In biology, a warm pond is where amino acids and that they were all of what is needed to make life. The examples he gives are that of insects that have huge jaws that are used to open a cocoon as well as a bird attempting to break open an egg.
Darwin (2003) indicates that if nature had made a beak of a pigeon quite short, modification is quite slow in spite of the selection of the young birds within each egg. Each of these young birds has hard beaks, and would one day become obsolete. In essence, statistics is not applicable to what Charles Darwin is indicating by discussing different aspects of a species, such as their nose or tail. However, statistics refutes the idea of having an organism from going from complex to simple in a short amount of time.
The laws of natural selection do not work with statistics or vice versa because it not logical or probable (Nielsen, 2005). Survival of the fittest does not work with statistics as well. This particular aspect of Charles Darwin's theory pertains mainly to those that are species adapt and change, and select species become dominant through this process. For example, a lion can adapt to his or her environment and end up becoming dominant by killing buffalo.
Now these are huge animals and statistics would not work in this particular case because the goals are supremacy. However, every animal or mammal is doing everything possible to survive and it is possible for one to dominate, but then when another one comes along that is bigger than them, he or she may become their prey.
