People with an interest in a business are referred to as stakeholders. In essence, it can refer to an individual who can contribute to the success and growth of a company and benefits from the success. The diversity of stakeholders in a business shows they play various roles. Further still, their levels of involvement vary from full-time to those who are barely involved. For instance, a company's CEO seeks to utilize skills, knowledge and experience of each of the stakeholder group to further the long-term organizational goals.

Many stakeholders have the desire to participate in a collaboration process but lack the necessary capacity. Therefore, it is important for communication and negotiation on political or technical levels be taken care of by considering the engagement of stakeholders. Having the broad collaboration processes is a requirement for many conservation settings that are precluded. It is worth noting that powerful stakeholder end up controlling the whole process (Bryson, 2011). This is in particular reference to designed activities by using developed approaches and languages.

In the collaboration process, an essential step relates to determining the actual/potential capacity stakeholder for organizations that help to participate in the collaboration process effectively and actively. In the outset, it is important to assess institutional and operational mechanisms, the knowledge base, and stakeholder's skills. As such, awareness of a stakeholder organization's operational strengths and weaknesses informs the design and implementation of projects (Ugboro, Obeng & Spann, 2011). This informs project design and implementation to build stakeholders capacity to participate effectively in the collaboration process.

Capacity assessments foster long-term collaboration, which is part of a process that is continuing. A stakeholder analysis approach provides an initial profile against which the expectations of capacities are assessed. Therefore, using outside experts helps in facilitating the process of assessment because they bring critical objectivity to the approach. Having a social audit is a tool vital for the assessment of an organization's performance (Ugboro, Obeng & Spann, 2011). The capacity assessment framework of social audit measures the social impact about its aims and from a stakeholder's perspective. Values of an organization and its operational practices create a closer link helps in capacity platforms to perform effectively.

Cultural competence looks at information and transparency aspects among stakeholders. The available information must be shared freely while the communication mechanisms and information sharing must be instituted. In terms of information sharing, media were chosen and communication mechanisms, it is important that they all reflect on stakeholder's information tradition and sharing. For instance, electronically provided information that is detailed is not of value to societies due to its lack of infrastructure and equipment to access and disseminate it (Bryson, 2011). In such instances, it is important to have effective information sharing, which includes workshops, dialogue groups, regular one-on-one meetings, and newsletters.

It is always important to ensure that the gathered information is shared satisfactorily as the stakeholders consider necessary or appropriate. Failing to do so causes misunderstandings that threaten the sanctity of the collaboration process in place. As such, stakeholders need to work with experts from both education and communication levels. This will ensure that all levels have been ascertained and developed fully to avoid unnecessary biases in the collaboration process (Bryson, 2011).
