Exposing More Disheartening American Patterns Research Proposal

The nation was built on the notion of freedom of religion. Yet, even this concept soon was tested and exposed for the fallacy that it was. Early in American history, a religious dominance was set, and then subsequently maintained even into today's world. For centuries, Anti-Semitic, and anti-Catholic undertones have dominated American Protestant mainstream culture. Although many wish to view American history as an open and welcoming opportunistic life for all races and nationalities, this is surely not the case. It seems as if the principles this nation was founded on are in many cases rarely witnessed in everyday life, but the foundation for those democratic liberties are there, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike out on a cause for equality for yet another disenfranchised American group. "Some others waited for almost two centuries, and that their equality came not only because of founding principles but because of complex social and political developments is true; but the principles were there, exerting their steady pressure," (15).
