The benefits of flavonoids has received much attention the mass media and the academic community. Flavonoids found in fruits and vegetables have been promoted as a key action that people can take to prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disease. This research revealed that a majority of current claims are based on in vitro and animal studies. Few studies have been conducted on humans as of yet. This study concludes that although there is no evidence to the contrary, there is not sufficient evidence to make the assertions that permeate articles regarding the healthful benefits of flavonoids.
