Corporate Websites Aramark Aramark is an institutional services provider. It runs three different divisions -- food, facilities and uniforms. Aramark serves four main industries -- education, healthcare, sports & entertainment, and business & government. They sell all three services to each of these four customers, but likely have this divisional structure to reflect that there are unique needs for each customer type. There are many different jobs available to hospitality graduates at Aramark, given its size and multitude of services that it provides.

There are basically two types -- the internships that are available to students who otherwise do not qualify for the managerial positions, and then there are the managerial positions. Students with no experience are likely to end up with an internship. There are opportunities in food service management, operations and production management, as well as a variety of corporate postings in numerous fields. The Compass Group The Compass Group has a number of different services, including food, education, health care, defense/offshore/remote, and business.

Much of what Compass does is food service, but it also does some support service as well. The company appears to have fostered a speciality in the remote locations, working as a contractor for a number of more challenging locales. For graduates of a hospitality management program, the Compass Group offers a lot of international. There is less information provided about what the company offers to new graduates, but there are presumably some junior managerial roles available.

Sodexo Sodexo also has a number of different customers, including corporate, government, health care, universities, energy and sports. They position their offering as "quality of life services," reflecting personal and home services, and on-site services. Most of their offering is food services, but there are also concierge services available. Food services are the majority of what they do, but they have things like wellness programs, health and safety consulting, site infrastructure and telecommunications for remote locations among their service offerings.

For new graduates, the company's website offers the promise of a number of opportunities. There are internships, apprenticeships and some entry-level managerial positions available to hospitality graduates. For Graduates While Compass Group does not present a case for hospitality graduates to consider it, the company presumably has the same opportunities that Sodexo and Aramark have. These companies will typically offer a range of internships, apprenticeships and entry level positions. For these companies, entry level presumably means more than just food production, but actual managerial work. This, however, is not specified.

Specific opportunities vary, but at all three companies there are opportunities set aside for new graduates, as distinct from those available to people with experience in the industry. There are both corporate jobs and on-site jobs for all of the applicants. There are also jobs that go beyond hospitality management, for example there are entry-level roles for dieticians at Aramark. Service Areas Each of these companies operates globally, and the markets that they serve are broken down not just by geography but by customer and job function. Compass and Sodexo in particular service the mining and oil industries, so they operate in many remote locations. Aramark has a longstanding relationship with the Olympic Games, for example, and goes wherever the Games go -- next year to Rio.

Aramark does not normally operate in Brazil, so this shows that the company has the capability to work in foreign locations on a contract basis. Sodexo and Compass are on oil rigs in the middle of the sea, and other such locations that are outside of national boundaries, and mine sites are operated in many developing nations. All three of these companies operate in dozens of nations as well, performing institutional tasks in North America, Europe and beyond.
