Part I
Defining the Audience
The audience for a SWOT analysis includes the internal stakeholders, the managers and team leaders who are responsible for the success of the organization.
Stating the Problem
Even in the absence of a specific problem facing the organization, stakeholders benefit from ongoing assessments. The SWOT analysis is the most common and straightforward assessments, allowing managers to understand what they are doing right, but also to identify areas of weakness that could become problems in the future if left unattended. Similarly, the SWOT analysis helps managers anticipate future threats from unexpected sources, like up-and-coming companies that could become major competitors.
Recommended Solution
The solution to most problems can be located in a solid SWOT analysis. A SWOT analysis can help companies maximize their marketing strategies in a global context. When entering new markets, when trying to gain competitive advantage, or when trying to remain market leaders, an organization needs to pay attention to internal issues like organizational culture, as well as external variables such as changes to the political climate in each area. A SWOT analysis lists specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, which can then be acted upon using a cohesive strategy.
Benefits and Return on Investment
A SWOT analysis requires very little in the way of investment, and any costs incurred by its preparation are readily recuperated through the long-term gains to company growth.
Part II
The fictional project will be launching a new company blog. This project will include content from different cultures, published in different languages. Our team needs to adapt the blog for different audiences.
Key issues and skills that the team will need to be aware of in order build sustainable business relationships with different stakeholder groups include:
Developing and building a culture of trust, collaboration, and shared values with diverse stakeholders and cultures.
A culture of trust, collaboration, and shared values will help nurture and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders. By communicating ideas in the blog in culturally appropriate ways, we will welcome new inbound clients.
Managing destructive behaviors that undermine trust, respect, integrity, and collaboration
It is important to manage destructive behaviors first by recognizing micro-aggressions and creating a culture of support. Intolerance of any destructive behaviors is the key; no one should remain silent.
Developing self-awareness and empathy as part of effective communication.
Self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and empathy are keys to healthy human social and psychological functioning within and outside of the organization. Everyone benefits from cultivating self-awareness and empathy.
Managing relationships throughout the value chain to maximize business performance.
Throughout the value chain, we can cultivate strong relationships by maintaining ongoing communications using multiple channels. Social media is especially helpful in stimulating healthy dialogue across the value chain to maximize performance.
The challenges of communicating effectively in virtual meetings, versus face-to-face communications
It is important to offer a crash-course in effective virtual communication. Face to face communication includes nonverbal cues that are absent from virtual discussions. Therefore, learning how to comport ourselves in virtual environments can go a long way towards creating the type of communication content and tone that reflects our company’s values.
