Empathy plays a large role in the career of an R.T. Empathy provides the R.T. with the ability to feel compassion for those who are undergoing medical imaging procedures. Empathy provides a foundation for patience and confidence as the R.T. greets each patient and assists them in getting through the procedure as quickly as possible with a minimum of stress.
In the field of radiological technology communication is vital both in verbal and in written form. If an R.T, does not have excellent reading and writing skills it is possible that the wrong contrast will be given or the wrong imaging procedure will be done. It is also important that the verbal skills be above average. The ability to verbally communicate with a patient is essential in getting that patient into the area, imaged, and processed out of the area. In addition, the ability to communicate well verbally provides the patient with the confidence to trust the R.T. during the process.
One procedure that the R.T. will be expected to perform is the angiography....
Radiologic Technology To be part of something that I can give my absolute one hundred percent to, along with having the perpetual opportunity to challenge myself to learn and grow, is a dream that any driven person intricately decorates through the course of their life. Whether one aspires to become an economist or whether one wishes to join the military, their dream is built on ambition and hope that they will
Personal Statement: Radiologic Technology Program To me, there is nothing more fulfilling and exciting than being part of a team that alleviates the suffering of others. Unknown to many, mostly those serving in other professions, working in the medical field has its own unique challenges. It is the realization that mine is a unique role - a role that involves helping others -- that motivates me to keep working in this
massive shortage of radiologic technologists of the 1990s has abated, there is still some shortage of workers in the field. Most such workers ply their trade in large hospitals, which average 21 imaging workers. Rural facilities have a harder time recruiting workers, so hospitals in the most desirable locations might not even experience a shortage at this point. Key to recruiting for rural hospitals is thus to outcompete the
Health Threat of Medical Ionizing Radiation Impact of Nuclear Medicine Exposures In October 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerted all healthcare facilities involved in performing brain perfusion computed tomography (CT) to ensure their patients were not being overexposed to ionizing radiation (Samson, 2009). This notice was in response to the discovery that 206 patients subjected to this procedure at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles had been exposed
Ethics The Dowd Model of Ethical Decision Making in Medical Imaging: Two Dilemma Scenarios Radiologic Alcoholic An ethical dilemma is raised in a situation where two "right" courses of action are found to be mutually exclusive of each other; that is, when doing one "right" thing necessarily leads to leaving the other "right" thing undone or even contravening this "right" and doing the opposite (Towsley-Cook & Young, 2007). A scenario in which an
Under conventional radiology, excessive exposure outputs a "black" film. In case of digital systems, good images are got from a large range of doses. With the help of digital fluoroscopy systems, it is extremely simple to get as well as delete images. There might be an inclination to get more images than what is required. In case of digital radiology, higher patient dosage implies improved image quality and therefore
