Role of ethics when building customer database

Ethics refers to the that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions. In the process of building a customer database there is need of both professional/business ethics and personal ethics.

In developing the databases, customer relations needs to be developed in order to identify the need and preferences of a customer and also to help in constructing satisfactory customer survey on the customer preference on goods and services. Taking care of the customer views and requirements, in an ethical manner and genuine engagement, is a plus for the company since the clients will ultimately feel safer in the hands of the company, bringing more business to the company.

The database helps in maximizing customer value thro conversion, retention and repeat sales .ethics helps in providing privacy to the customers when building a database, the collection of individual, customer behavioral information is isolated from each customer. (by Craig Huey,)

Ethics helps in upholding moral principles, the moral principles differs from one person to the other hence both the customers morality should be put in consideration. The belief and systems and theories in the organizations and the organizational philosophies are put in consideration when building a database (Jamie Walters, 2011).

The ethics also helps in examining underlying intentions of the organization, for instant if the business is following business fad or developing publicity friendly ethics statement, this helps in database construction. Ethics helps in highlighting the companies' legends, the past practices that take s place in the organization....

Every company have past events and occurrences which they like to share with the customers in order to improve in their communication systems through the installation of the new databases in the organization.
Ethics, since it is a requirement in human life, it helps in the decision making process of the required actions if it is aimless or random, the degree of ethical standards determines the goal achievement through organizational actions and goals through the application in the database. In upholding the responsibility to the customer in every action they undertake is guided by ethical standard of an organization which is supported by the databases, being the custodian of the organization's information and data.
