Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Is Term Paper

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is an extremely successful conglomerate that has been recently faced with internal problems. The current crisis is due to the unsatisfied needs of the personnel at MSLO who accuse long hours of work in inadequate conditions and remunerated with low wages. In order to resolve their complaints, the organization has to implement new managerial styles that emphasise on the human resource. As such, the need for leadership training focused on the personnel arose.

The management at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia ought to implement a management style that is people-oriented. They should place an increased emphasis on the human resource and perceive them as more than the people operating the machines. The reason why MSLO has to change its approach of the employees is simple: unsatisfied workers deliver unsatisfactory performances that affect the overall company. They could begin by sabotaging the quality of the product and end by going on strikes which might even push the organization on the edge of bankruptcy. On the other hand, content employees register higher performances and lead to organizational growth and development. As such, introducing leadership training is compulsory for resolving the personnel situation and it is for the company's long-term benefit.

The main objective of leadership training is to teach managers how to relate to their subordinates, understand, support and attend to their needs, all for the purpose of increasing their satisfaction at the work place and consequently the company's productivity. Once the training is complete, employees are prone to receive increased wages, to be better appreciated, to receive premiums, trainings and several other incentives that motivate them.

The training would be structured onto three stages. The first stage would have managers analyse the employees' demands. Then, they would walk among the employees and heard their requests. Third, they would implement strategies to resolve the employees' problems. All these would be done with the assistance of a specialized team of HRM, hired by the MSLO board of directors.
