Organizational Behavior Briefly Discuss How Term Paper

In evaluating each approach it's clear that the job characteristics has a much more pervasive and integrative approach to defining the total context and impact of a job. The SIP Model and broader social information theory actually address just a component of the job characteristics model and could be foundational to this second theoretical construct of defining a jobs' context and value. Of the two, the job characteristics theory shows illustrates the impact of associates, managers and the structure of the position in relation to these two critical influences in terms of overall job performance.

How does burn out differ from stress? Which do you think is worse and why?

There are major differences between burn-out vs. stress and often it is in the perspective someone takes to a challenging, difficult situation that dictates what their response will be. The intent of this essay is to explain how burn-out differs from stress, and evaluate which is worse, and why.

Burn-out is commonly given the same attributes or characteristics as stress, yet is significantly different in both its immediate and long-term impact. Burn-out can permanently injure a person's psychological perspective of life, often making them, in extreme cases, withdrawn and even suicidal. Burn-out changes...

Stress on the other hand changes the physical reaction to life's stressors, elevating both physiological and physical reactions, causing the person to have a very strong initial response, then become fatigued. Burn-out permanently changes a person's outlook on life, often making them cynical, demoralized and appearing to have no hope of their lives getting better. Burn-out is a psychological response that most often happens when someone has been under a high level of stress for an extended period of time with little control over their circumstances. Workers who have high demands on them in their jobs with little control over their reaction to the demands will experience burn-out much faster than a person who has control over how they will react to the many demands of their job.
When someone is burned out they will become detached, isolated, feeling there is a loss of hope, and will feel their dreams have been crushed and are gone forever. Burn-out as a result takes much longer to cure than stress, which is more at the physical than psychological level, where burn-out is the most damaging. In treating each, stress can be alleviated through rest, disengagement from the most difficult stressful situations, and giving the body a chance
