Regardless of your own immaturity, however, I value your application of personal experience to the poem. Imagery of melons and wasps is not something that rings a personal bell with me, but the underlying emotions of the Simic poem do conjure up a lot of emotions for me, as if a hornet's nest has been attacked. 2. You have selected two of my favorite Simic poems to comment on, and I appreciate that. "Stone" had a huge impact on me when I first read it, too. On a symbolic level, the stone is something that is considered cold, lifeless, and even useless. As Simic puts it, children toss stones into the river for play. Animals shit on stones. When the stone comes alive with the spark, the breakthrough in consciousness occurs. As you say, the stone "opens up" when it is in contact with another stone. This is the essence of love. When in contact with another stone, that is when life and its mysteries can be revealed.

You also selected "Fear," and note that it is one of the shortest poems you have ever read. It is indeed a brief poem, which needs no elaboration. Fear is as mysterious as the stone. It is not the wind that causes the leaves to rustle on the tree; then what does cause it? This is a question that many people would like to answer, because fear is the cause of many of our problems.

The problem with mitochondrial DNA is that it is inherited only from the maternal side of the family. The hair could have belonged to Anthony, to the victim, to Anthony's brother, or to any of the female ancestors in the maternal side of the family. Because the state could not establish that the victim was the source of this hair, the fact that it could establish that the hair

Efficiency of Antibiotic Resistance Gene Transfer Mechanisms Upon Exposure to Triclosan Triclosan has become the latest buzz word in the grocery store. It is being hailed as the ultimate biocide and finds its way into many everyday products such as toothpaste and hand soap. Mass media produced a great amount of hype and convinced the general public that this was necessary to protect them from potentially harmful or even fatal bacteria.

I volunteer at a local animal shelter, and while I am not a radical, I believe strongly in treating all creatures with respect and dignity. The fact that I am not afraid to stand up

A favorite target for conspiracists today as well as in the past, a group of European intellectuals created the Order of the Illuminati in May 1776, in Bavaria, Germany, under the leadership of Adam Weishaupt (Atkins, 2002). In this regard, Stewart (2002) reports that, "The 'great' conspiracy organized in the last half of the eighteenth century through the efforts of a number of secret societies that were striving for

Here we see that the staff and the students had their own responsibilities and those responsibilities are quite different from the traditional ones we find in traditional schools. Horton thought that a significant aspect of the teacher's role was to empower students to "think and act for themselves" (Thayer-Bacon). We can see that Horton placed responsibility on both the students and the staff. They were to learn from one
