Eminem is also portrayed in a variety of bizarre situations, including an emergency room, an infomercial with Dick Cheney, a national talk show with a fictional Sandy Messy Lezbial, and MTV's reality show "Real World." Throughout, Eminem is shown multiple times rapping in front of a giant bouncing "E" and on several occasions plays outside characters, including his own mother and an audience member. Interpolated between these disjointed situations is the main storyline of Eminem, dressed as a parody of Robin from Batman and Robin, with Dr. Dre heading toward the house of a young boy who has purchased one of Eminem's albums. When Eminem and Dr. Dre finally arrive at the boy's house, Eminem uses his "powers" to prevent the boy from playing the album and points to the explicit lyrics sticker on the CD casing. The disjointed and surreal nature of Eminem's...
The storyline is fantastical and exaggerative, and the various bizarre situations which occur, such as Eminem dressed as his own mother or electrocuting Dick Cheney on an infomercial, are inconsistent with an objective reality. Rather, the video is a subjective interpretation and perception by Eminem with relation to his critics and his music. The satirizing of outspoken Cheney, who was highly critical of Eminem's music, and the comparison of Eminem to Elvis, are prime instances of subjective reality. The music video "Without Me" is an excellent example of the formalistic style, wherein the creator presents his subjective reality to the viewer. Eminem utilizes this subjective reality to convey his opinions about the world, himself, and the outside critical perceptions of himself and his music.
Another theme which is symbolized by this dual, contradictory character in Batman films is fear, especially Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins. The darkness of Batman's outfit instills fear. Bruce Wayne is initially scared of a bat he sees out the window and bat is also a dark color. What Bruce is in Batman Begins is an individual with fear who not only tries to overcome it but also becomes part of
Marketing and Reception Project: Batman (1989)There are various movies that have had outstanding marketing campaigns and received warm reception following their release. One such movie happens to be Batman (1989). Batman could, in essence, be deemed a superhero movie featuring a masked defender of a city troubled by organized crime. From the onset, it would be prudent to note that Warner Bros, the production company behind the film, sought to
Batman 1989 As depicted in this DC-comic-based movie, Gotham City is a fictionalized concept of New York or Chicago in the late 30s rather than in the bicentennial period of its independence in 1776. The behavior of the characters, the black-and-white television sets, the locale and the overall mood of the fiction are suggestive of that period before the last War rather than of the conditions in New York or Chicago
Fan Fiction: Batman Batman: The Next Generation (2033). Episode 1: Setting the scene The source of Alfred Wayne's fortune was shadowy, even to Alfred. Unlike some rich boys, he was placed on a strict stipend, according to the wishes
In Miller's Batman, one sees a man waging war on a world that has sold its soul for empty slogans and nationalism: the Dark Knight represents a kind of spirit reminiscent of what the old world used to call the Church Militant -- he is virtue violently opposed to all forms of vice -- even those that bear the letter S. On their chests and come in fine wrapping. Miller's
