It Runs in the Family
What is the chance that Melissa will develop HD and what could she expect if she did develop the disease?
Huntington's Disease is caused by a dominant mutation in a gene, meaning that if one or both of the gene that carries this mutation has the Huntington's mutation, the disease will manifest physically (NIH 2011). In other words, if one of a person's two biological parents had or has Huntington's Disease, there is at minimum a fifty percent chance of an offspring inheriting the disease, and inheritance will lead to expression if given enough time (May Clinic 2011). Because Melissa does not have access to any pertinent information other than that her mother had the disease, calculating her potential for developing the disease becomes much more complex, as all alternatives must be considered. The Punnet squares below help to illustrate this:

The roles of various members of the society are a dictate of the culture between the people involved. For instance, culture has always been behind the dictates that have led to the creation of separation among family members. Culture states that it is the responsibility of the family man to provide for the family. Failure to do that will result in conflicts within the family. In essence, many families
Family Narrative Every family has a story. Or rather every family has a number of different stories. Both parents work as lawyers but the mother is able to work partially at home, which gives her more time to care for her children when they come home from school. Sometimes she works late and her husband takes over the 'second shift' of overseeing the children's homework in the evening. Mealtimes are described
Family Law Act a court must take into Account ' the best interest of the child'. What does this mean? What are the factors the court is to consider in determining the best interests of the child and how do these operate? (200-500 words) In short, the best interest of the child as defined by most courts is what will serve the child's interests best, at least in the short-term,
It is interesting to note that this fact is not scorned by anyone in the story, and that the incestuous relationship was officially sanctioned by Jacob's uncle Laban, who gave Jacob "his daughter Rachel as wife also" (Genesis 30: 28). Whereas incest functions as merely an aside in the story of Jacob, it is the primary plot function in Myrrha's tale. All of her woes descend from the fact
