College education, I believe, is a rewarding experience on several levels. First, and perhaps most important, college education widens an individual's knowledge and understanding of life, thereby laying the foundation for that individual to grow into a responsible and productive member of society. Second, college education allows focus on and specialization in the fields of knowledge that interest a person the most. Third, a college degree holds the key to careers that are stimulating, satisfying, and economically rewarding.
In addition to the reasons cited above, obtaining a college education is personally very important to me since it is my dream to eventually build a career in the field of psychology. Psychology is my chosen field for the simple reason that I have always been fascinated by human behavior. In fact, there is nothing that I enjoy more than listening to people and helping them work through their problems. Further, I hold the conviction that a sense of psychological well-being is extremely important in being able to successfully meet the myriad challenges of life. Within the field of psychology, I hope to qualify as a marriage counselor - a decision I made after I experienced the pain of my parents' divorce and subsequent break up of my family. For it was at this time that I realized the important role that family plays in an individual's sense of psychological well-being.
