The author of this brief response has been asked to answer to a specific question. A series of five events or topics are listed and the author of this report is to rank them with the proper context and prism being the assigned readings applicable to this assignment, and nothing beyond that. The works in question include The Onset of the Wars for Independence, Inheritance and The Jamaica Letter. The five things to be ranked are the tensions between the Creoles and the Europeans, racism, the French Revolution, the misery of the slaves and the wretched condition of the slaves. While all five of the items covered and that are to be ranked are significant, there are two that stand out above the rest.
Analysis
The author of this report can easily group the five items into three basic groups. Racism and the tensions between white people and Creoles are much of the same area. Similarly, the misery of the slaves and the wretched conditions of the indigenous people are very linked together. Beyond that, the French Revolution sort of stands on its own because it was the catalyst and inspiration from one group to another. Indeed, the French Revolution was very much about people being fed up with the ruling class having their way and only their way.
