THREE: What action can Miller take to show he leads and treats people fairly and with respect and dignity? He should look at the classroom data from teachers who have "slow learners" in their classes to assure himself that adequate time is given to both bright students and struggling students because student learning is indeed the fundamental purpose of public schools. He needs to meet frequently with faculty to gauge whether or not the instruction is effective for students of all backgrounds and ethnicities. He should insist that parent-teacher conferences take place with regularity and he should hold open meetings (if the PTA isn't holding regular meetings) to address concerns from parents and the community.
FOUR: What data and information should Miller use to ensure the quality of decisions? Miller needs to insist that faculty be vigilant in providing him with test results and other grade-related data within a prescribed time frame.
