The design of this research must focus around the testability of depression and how these symptoms can manifest within the test subjects. A case study done between these two groups of black males will be helpful in finding a relationship between smoking and depression.

The role of the researcher is to find truth and balance within examined data. It is important for the researcher to maintain ethical and moral standards especially in dealing with sensitive information contained in medical records that involve the sensitive subject of mental health and depression.
