In North America, freshwater aquatic organisms are more at risk for the invasion of an alien species than there terrestrial counterparts (Dextrase and Mandrak).
While terrestrial species have some ability to migrate to more suitable environments to avoid hazardous situations such as pollution, aquatic species are limited to the water that supports them.
