The current business scene is very competitive meaning that each form must have an edge so as to win over more customers. The process requires that the internal and the external business processes be fine tuned using all tools available. The adopted tools should be able to react to the changes in the corporate environment such as new business models. New technologies such as management information system strategy are important in order to remain competitive through enhance internal and external functions (Chaffey, 2002).
Johnson plc should invest in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) technology that would allow it to exchange valuable information such as order updates, product prices and transaction schedules to their suppliers and customers. This should be rolled on a value added network (VAN) (Kleinschmidt,2010). The firm should integrate its applications in a single Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Haiwook, 2001). This should be done by specialist as regulated by industry standards.
Marketing and Sales department
Johnson plc should employ elaborate marketing and sales techniques in ensuring that it realizes profitability. As Gerard (2008) points out, it is important to coordinate the marketing and the sales functions of an organization across the whole revenue cycle. The strategy to be included by Johnson plc should be based on information technology. Internet marketing should be included in their marketing mix as well as e-commerce for reaching out to a global audience.
Adoption of e-commerce into the supply chain
In order to improve profitability, Johnson plc should adopt e-commerce into its supply chain (Kocakulah, Foroughi & Lannert, 2009). This is in order to acquire a competitive edge (Handfield & .Nichols,1999). They can do this by using the internet, intranet and extranet. Electronic data interchange (EDI) can be use to pass valuable inter-organizational and extra-organizational information to various persons, department, stakeholders and partners.

The most credible approach that must be adopted by Johnson plc must include a well coordinated information management plan that rides on an elaborate strategic enterprise management information system. All the functions of the company must be included in the platform and how they relate to each other. This way, the firm is sure of increase efficiency and profitability
