Schn's Thinking To The Ideas Research Proposal

Frayling and Schn both discuss the relevance of action research and development as well as research into the core materials of a project. Does IDEO's way of designing and researching work with either Frayling's model or Schn's understanding of design knowledge? Why or why not?

The IDEO principle of design is based on "intimacy with content." (p. 2). Intimacy with content is achieved via a unique research methodology for artists: immersion. Researching as Givechi, et al. Of IDEO suggest entails gathering visual data but also conceptual data. Consequently, the end result is more relevant to the needs of the end-user. Research is as the IDEO firm puts it into practice: becoming immersed in the client's world to deliver a more meaningful design product. The IDEO way of designing and researching also works with Schn's understanding of design knowledge because of the emphasis on reflection in action.
