To fully exploit the scope of this discovery, Human Genome Project was launched that again had few supporters and numerous opponents. The general public, not aware of the deeper scientific reasons behind launching of this project, staunchly opposed it and yet there were some big names in the field who not only backed the program but also tried to raise awareness regarding its numerous benefits. One such person is James D. Watson, whose impressive credentials and long list of services in the field put him in an enviable position to carry put the task.
