Global Cultural Politics The Process Term Paper

Therefore, the globalization of the world can mean the fragmentation of cultures and the possibility of new conflicts along civilization lines. The theory of Samuel Huntington however has had several critics who argue that in fact the neo-liberal approach of world economics and politics will increase the financial resources of the world and thus foster the creation of a global culture based on similar moral values and norms. However, it is less likely for the neo-liberal practices to have this effect on the short-term because it is rather clear from the image of today's world that globalization has led, in a constant manner, to inequality. The spirit of capitalism in its purest sense is thus developed. However, this automatically leads to western states becoming richer and underdeveloped countries becoming poorer. Thus, conflicts are deemed to arise in areas where poverty is a reality and a state of mind. Therefore, taking these two points-of-view into account it is rather hard to give a proper assessment on the way in which neo-liberal practices and politics will eventually affect culture and diversity.

Thus one can no longer decide on the line which should separate the national from the regional, as well as the regional from the global. A thorough consideration of the issue of globalization has helped me better understand the idea behind the saying that "when America sneezes Europe catches a cold." This expression I believe expresses best the sense of the globalised world.
