The teaching of values, morals, and discipline must be part of the program for a Catholic teacher, and also the involvement of parents brings the school, the Church, the children and the families together in a fellowship of learning and praying. As was mentioned earlier in this section, involving parents in their children's learning activities is a powerful way to keep our faith strong and growing in the context of education and Christianity. This is particularly poignant because on page 9 of the "Our Catholic Schools" one of the major issues facing Catholic education is the "…inadequate home and parish involvement with schools," and we can mitigate this problem by working closely with children to get them inspired enough so they want their parents to attend and participate.

"There is an increase in the number of students not baptized in our schools" and there are "fewer families attending church regularly," the report explains. Furthermore, "Many parents are often not involved in the development of their child's faith and the school is sometimes the only place students receive the teaching of the Catholic Faith," and these gaps in our continuing program to stay focused and be inclusive are not acceptable.

I see myself continuing to grow in my faith life as a catholic teacher through

The reflective and creative thinker that I strive to be recognizes that I can adapt to new ideas for the good of my class, their families, the school and the community. I plan to continuing to take AQ religion courses, and to become a respected specialist within the Board. I attend Mass regularly, I plan to get involved in the Mass committee, and volunteering for other groups within the Church community is something...

The life I live is one of belief in the value of all beings, and I live the same life that I promote to others; I talk the talk and walk the Christian walk. And that entails ethical, confident, intelligent approach to Christian leadership.
When I complete my courses and become a graduate, I will be proud to be known as a discerning believer, an effective communicator, a self-directed and responsible person who enjoys knowing that children look up to me and see me as someone they would like to pattern their adult lives after. A role model in the Christian milieu is someone that is both a caring family person and a responsible citizen in all ways -- and in my case, a role model is a person whose approach to education is enlightening, interesting, and in some instances entertaining. We have to get the children away from their technology tools long enough to have them focus on how the Catholic Church is a saving institution.

In conclusion, I am ready and willing -- and eager -- to get into a classroom with young people, and I am also prepared for any challenges that are presented to me. With my faith, and my experience, I am not the least bit shy or afraid when it comes to finding solutions and taking on challenges.
