Administrators Role In Establishing Effective Communication Between Parents And School Term Paper

Administrative Strategies for Effective Communication Education contains multiple responsibilities. One starts the learning process in the world from within the family nurture, before continuing to pursue formal education in schools and academy. However, human does not stop learning from their family. Getting exposed to higher education, they also learn things from hands-on experiences and from what are happening in their surroundings.

This reveals the fact that family and environment are two contributing factors, in addition to formal education process in official institution in a community. The three factors determine how education makes one person in the society a distinct, honorable man.

With the great potentials, now education has been a regional issue. Fully conventional learning processes have been attempted within the education system. However, with the growing needs to perform effective schooling and to gain the best academic result, educators realize the need to incorporate the three factors: school, parents, and communities, to actively take the responsibilities of students' education within a community. It means that studying would be effective and efficient if there is a synchronized program that involves the part of parents, teachers, and community schooling to apply to students. Therefore students would find a "home" for their thirst of knowledge, and begin to feel that they belong to a part of the whole community. They would find learning process noteworthy, as they get help - quite intensive and extensive help - from so many parties in their surroundings.

The Importance of Communication for The Whole Community

Quite different from what most community sometimes ignore, the town and the schools they house would make great companions and support each other (Reynolds, 2002). Traditional viewpoint sees that such close companionship is too far beyond the reach. Conversely, it can be established just if there is enough interest that each party pays to each other. School needs supports from the community to be able to help the students to express themselves in real life experiences; on the other hand, the community will also experience the variety of school functions once they decide to explore them together. With the appropriate management, schools would be the great resources to help improving the city in many aspects.

Besides the school and community, the other essential factor that will determine the accomplishment of students' performance is the role of family. Apart from merely sending children and teenagers to school, family can play a greater task than that. Children have different exposures at home and in school, but actually, both experiences would intertwine to each other in their life. In the "Family Involvement" article, it is described that families can help drawing a line between both circumstances.

Family involvement in children's education can positively support them to get motivated more than before, resulting in higher achievement in their academic performance. Family's influence is so strong that when given such encouragement and attention, children would show positive attitude towards their education and learning activities. As the result, they would have better chances to produce higher grades, as well as develop self-motivation to take their study seriously. Families help children to understand the meaning of education for their life, and how being serious about that will determine their future, including how they would make it at the higher education.

With family supports, children develop better characters than those who do not get the same exposure at their homes. Children may find themselves learning in comfortable atmosphere, where their parents keep paying attention to what they do and show cares in any activities they are involved in.

As those factors would sustain the improvement in education system, it is necessary that there is a good administrator that will ensure the collaboration of the partakers together. To include them into the established education system is a multifaceted task, therefore it requires careful front planning to see how much each party can contribute, and how all contribution would be effectively used.

Parents and Family's Contributions to Students Improvement

Family bears the great potentials that influence learners more significantly than their teachers in school do. According to "School-Family" article, commonly they keep close relationship with the school as well, however it does not last long or at least they only do it intensively when the children are in the first three grades. When the children grow up, parents often pay less attention, convinced that children that age would be able to take care of themselves. School needs to change this point-of-view.

The "Family Involvement" article encouraged families to do the assistance since study shows, "parental...

Some simple achievement can actually be encouraged from home, such as school attendance (making sure that children attend schools regularly), variety of reading materials, and good habit development (such as limiting TV viewing hours).
Parents can also learn the bigger control they can take to improve the overall performance of the students. For example, a study shows, there is a significant effect that parents can improve on their children's realization to enter college. Parents can be the link with school counselors to find the best study or course subjects that are matching to the students' talent and interest. At home, they can give proper guidance how the students direct their choices to the right path. This encouragement works better if parents initiate it, more than similar attempt by schoolteachers or career counselors.

The Community Potentials

If the community decides to participate in the study, it has to start promptly. First, it has the potential to give a hand in providing the infrastructures, handle part of the expensive education cost, or at least it opens opportunities for students to join their team.

Kliewer (1996) recognized a positive side of handling part of the education responsibilities to parents and communities. A similar share may also cut the education costs, or at least, save the funds to allocate to something else, while the children still get the best quality of education from intensive values their families teach them at home.

Kliewer (1996) explained, any parts of states with surplus financial status usually gives the city public (or private) schools reasonable amount of fund to improve their facilities and learning system. Most donations often come from corporations that have bigger concerns for quality of education. In other situation, in absence of similar involvement from commercial parties or because of limited numbers of donation that schools usually receive in smaller cities, a call for help to parents and local volunteers would replace the need for such commercial contributors.

Yet, it is obvious that students need more than just standard facilities to get the best results from lessons they learn in school. Parents can do more, since it is easier for them to identify what parts of their system to improve, while knowing their children recent aptitude results. If they cannot do that in any manners, there are still many citizens with various expertises, who would be willing to revamp the schools infrastructures in their analysis, as long as there is a good way to communicate to each other to discuss with each other about each capacity.

With this approach, they can establish new plans to carry out to integrate with the current education system, for example, involving parents in students' after-school project to establish an event or organization within community facilities or inside the local circumstances.

Applicable Administrative Strategies and Problem Solution very good plan is necessary to establish at the first time. This may be initiated from the school or from parents, any party will do. Since complexities of tasks are the main concerns, from establishing clear and manageable goals, determining parties that will be invited, setting up suitable programs for the students in certain community, and arranging for evaluation program, therefore the initiator must be able to handle the responsibilities as well as choosing the right people to share the start-up ideas and works.

Parents will be the easiest start. There are always chances that can be given to parents for participation is school. According to "School-Family" article, parents can take part in different levels. In here, school should make various approaches and prior analysis about the family from where a certain student comes, to decide the appropriate portion for this family. This preliminary study is important so that the school will recognize that the student comes from a certain level of "parental education" background, "family size, marital status, socioeconomic level, or grade level."

In this way, the school will recognize what the family can do to help the students using their own potential. There may be different standard and family teaching method to establish among different families. Some families, who come from lower socioeconomic class, often do not have enough academic background and also do not know how to teach their children appropriately, for lack of technical information and financial resources. School needs to invite them to join any training program where necessary and have conversation with the teachers. Besides it will establish closer relationship between…
