Analyzing Leadership Development Plan Essay

Leadership Development Plan I am an informed and inquisitive leader, and have sufficient command over functional knowledge and subject matter. Besides this, I can easily grasp ideas and concepts. Paying attention to what others have to say, and supporting them, is a rather easy task for me. I like to take on novel challenges regularly so as to be able to learn new things. I look to multiple sources for inspiration, and my zeal as well as all the knowledge I have amassed aids me in leading by example.

Trust is one "superpower" I possess. People usually place their trust in me easily, and set store by whatever support I give them. They perceive me to be a credible, knowledgeable and reliable leader. Another task that I find easy to do is build confidence among team members.

In spite of the aforementioned strengths, there are some areas in which I am lagging. My weaknesses tend to hinder my development as an agent who has to facilitate change. Mainly, my zeal sometimes leads me to block off others' ideas. I am striving hard to get over this weakness, as it only serves to disrupt the process of team brainstorming. At the end of the day, all I had done was waste precious time in endeavoring to make this idea of mine more attractive and feasible. This is one area I must work on to become a better leader.

Political Competencies (i.e., political processes, power and ethics, negotiation, education and marketing): In the course of the succeeding few years, one of my tasks in the political arena is to remain updated with the latest ethical codes and regulations applicable to my profession. Furthermore, I need to ensure that the individuals under my wing, who I guide and supervise, are also following these ethical principles. I must broaden my negotiating skills. Over time, with professional growth, I believe every individual is required to acquire or hone their skills in relationship building and negotiation.
