Web Critique of a Website

The chosen website for criticizing the web is from AAMFT, n.d-American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. The site contains content such as family and marriage counseling, building career, finding the appropriate therapist, using webinars to enhance knowledge, annual events and conferences, professional advancement on both state and federal levels, all relevant information about the association and membership application. Some other relevant content include news, job connection, professional development, adoption, adult ADHD, children from same sex marriages and their same sex parents, and infertility issues.

Among the website strengths are detailed contact information and time of response with office times and availability, without any broken links, and the URL of the website that is straightforward and concise including the company's abbreviation. The limitations are a lot of information contained on the site's home page. Although a home page is expected to be easily navigatable and simple, this one has several texts clustered around each other, making the entire web page's impression chaotic. When a headline is clicked on, the new page opens on the same window tab, instead of opening on a new one since most people prefer new pages opening on new tabs to save the time they would need to wait for the webpage to finish loading.

There is a proper integration of information into the coursework because the entire course is research-based and the way the site's pages have been designed, they make the search for relevant information a lot easier for the web users to access appropriate and relevant information. Gaining adequate knowledge of internet researches, being able to differentiate between biased sources of information and credible ones, carrying out analysis on websites for varied aims and audiences, and learning how to get internet sources documented, are among the different ways this web critique aids our work on this course.

Conclusions

The experience of assembling data from primary sources is among the most vital topics in this course. The qualitative strategy adopted as the research method for a one-on-one interview was employed for the sole aim of gathering relevant information from my uncle, concerning his smoking habits. It was quite useful for gaining deeper insight on the patterns of addiction with regards to smoking and smokers generally. Since all I wanted was for the subject to express his thoughts, the questions were in an open-ended format. It can be rightly referred to as a structured type of interview where no formal structure guideline was followed and the respondent was allowed to respond to questions openly (Dana, Dawes, & Peterson, 2013, p. 512). I had arranged the venue and time for the interview and hinted my uncle about the main purpose of the interview ahead of time, and he assented quite easily. This method of research calls for adequate preparation and planning concerning the gathering of relevant information. There was need to carefully design the questions in such a way that the atmosphere would be that of trust to encourage the exchange of authentic information. Moreover, the identification of problems, analysis of results critically, and critical thinking, are among other elements of the course that relates to the interview I had to conduct.
