Strengths

Slim Gym offers a personalized training experience to gym-goers who still want to have the communal experience of group fitness classes and use exercise equipment in an independent fashion. Consumers still have the oversight of trainers, even when working out using machines and doing other activities. Instructors can help gym-goers intimidated by machines and weights in the work-out area. All classes are staffed with trained personnel and the equipment is of a high level of quality, much better than what most consumers could afford to purchase for use at home or even might have access to at an apartment or college gym.
Weaknesses

There are many competitors for Slim Gym's customers. Many potential customers may wish to hire a one-on-one personal trainer at home and forgo a gym. Other fitness buffs may prefer to work out on their own, running or using weights or fitness DVDs at home for a fraction of the cost. Specialty gyms that focus on yoga, spinning, or other specific activities may draw customers away.

Another problem with Slim Gym is that it occupies a rather nebulous 'middle ground' in the fitness market. It is not an ultra-high end gym where all customers only receive personal attention from personal trainers, and its amenities are not unusual for a fitness facility. Some gyms have saunas, gravity-free yoga classes, and electronic equipment they use to constantly monitor client's physical 'stats.'
