Thank you for coming today and welcome.

It is a pleasure to have you with us Bob.

Today we will deliver your assessment results to you and discuss them in a strength-based manner.

At the outset, please note that your cognitive and intellectual functioning was evaluated using Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT-4) and Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence 2 (WASI-2). Both tests gave us significant insights on your cognitive functioning. We used the tests results to identify your strengths and weaknesses with respect to your intelligence and achievements. The test results also gave us a suitable diagnosis of your cognitive functioning and we are now able to offer a comprehensive recommendations for enhancing your cognitive and intellectual functioning.

Your Strengths

Based on your test results in WRAT-4 and WASI-2, it is clear that your strengths include higher cognitive and comprehension skills. Your high-level marks in tests on English language reading tasks as well as comprehension and verbal expression skills indicate a solid grip on these subjects. Additionally, your verbal reasoning abilities is another indicator of your cognitive strength and high-level comprehension skills.

Your Weaknesses

Despite your cognitive and comprehension strengths, it seems you struggle with complex tasks , especially Mathematics. Other areas that need improvement are visual-spatial skills, non-verbal abilities, and problem-solving skills. We have included your problem-solving skills in areas that need improvement even after your results fall in the average range. This is because you are unable to handle difficult tasks effectively. This shows that you struggle with problem-solving skills and you need to improve this area so that you can back-up your comprehension skills with your problem solving skills.

Impact of your strengths and weaknesses on Overall Functioning

Your strengths and weaknesses can impact your functioning, especially when you are engaged in complex tasks. Your results indicate that you are an average person and your overall functioning and performance is within the average range. For example, let’s look at your WASI-2 test results; the scores fall in the average category in six of the seven scales and below average in the other scale. Similarly, in WRAT-4 test results, your results fell in the average scale and low average range. Therefore, please note that you have an average IQ as indicated in Wechsler Score Classifications of Intelligence (Jordan Institute for Families, 2004).

With an average IQ, you will be performing well in normal tasks. However, you will struggle to perform well in complex activities. This implies that you have intellectual limitations that limit your ability to understand and handle complicated tasks and activities. Consequently, it seems that you prefer to deal with tasks that are easy to implement and you avoid complicated tasks and this is where your performance is worse than your peers. Therefore, you suffer from mild cognitive restrictions, which hinder your cognitive functioning in complex activities.

Suggestions or Recommendations

You can overcome your weaknesses i.e. cognitive restrictions to enhance your performance in complicated activities. Similar to other individuals with mild cognitive restrictions, we have found that you have the a strong ability to learn, due to your cognitive and comprehension strengths. Therefore, our first recommendation is to address your weakness and also find suitable social support for your learning. You have got to find individuals in your life who can support you as you enhance your IQ skills and to help you in developing necessary skills for handling complex tasks. Secondly, you have got to tailor formal instructions to your individual strengths and address your weaknesses given that customized instruction has proven effective in assisting individuals with mild cognitive restrictions.
