Self-Concept & Self-Esteem
Self-Concept and Self-Esteem Study
State your hypothesis (remember correlation ? causation, so don't hypothesize that one causes the other):
Main Hypothesis: There is a significant relationship between self-esteem and self-concept, or the individual's sense of self or identity.
Specifically,
There is a significant relationship between an individual's level of self-esteem and his/her level of achievement motivation.
There is a significant relationship between an individual's level of self-esteem and his/her perceived degree of self-accomplishment.
Enter your data (feel free to add columns if you need to for your hypothesis).
Self-Esteem variable:
High self-esteem
Statement Test variable:
- Achievement Motivation
Perceived degree of self-accomplishment
Low self-esteem
No achievement motivation mentioned
High self-esteem
Mentioned achievement motivation and positive report on self-accomplishment
High self-esteem
Mentioned positive report on self-accomplishment
Low self-esteem
No achievement motivation mentioned
Negative report on self-accomplishment
Do you see the pattern that you hypothesized?
Salient in this self-concept and self-esteem study that indeed, there is a relationship between self-esteem and the individual's self-reported self-concept. Although no directional relationships are established from the study, it is important to note that data results indicate a potential directional relationship between the level of self-esteem and (i) achievement motivation and (ii) perception of self-accomplishment. The first self-concept variable is determined through the individual's identified and reported causes that could prompt him/her to take action or change his/her behavior. Perception of self-accomplishment, meanwhile, determines the perception of the individual on the importance or relevance of his/her achievements, if there are any, to himself/herself and society in general. Results showed that individuals who have low self-esteem do not also exhibit positive reports on achievement motivation and perceived self-accomplishment. Conversely, people who have high self-esteem reported more positive achievement motivation and perceived self-accomplishment.
Interpret your results as described on page 1.
Achievement motivation and perceived self-accomplishment are important factors influencing one's self-concept and affecting one's self-esteem. Both achievement motivation and perceived self-accomplishment are critical elements to the continued development of one's perceived efficacy (self-efficacy), whether this is applied in the individual's life and everyday activities personally and professionally (Ursin, 2004, p. 580). However, the relationship between these self-concept variables and self-esteem must be explored further, determining causation to establish the directional relationship between the two key variables of the study.

global warming. One of the arguments in favor of this being an issue is that temperatures have increased over time, since humans began burning fossil fuels. There are a number of ways to look at the issue, but one thing that has not received much consideration is that baseline data, which is taken from urban areas, may be skewed by other factors besides anthropogenic global warming. One factor that
Moon Evolution Describe in step-by-step detail how the Earth's moon forms per the Nebula Hypothesis. The nebular hypothesis is the most widely accepted theory of cosmic creation that is applied by modern day scientists. This theory suggests that when an immense cloud of cosmic gas and dust begins to collapse due to gravity a nebula begins to form. Gas pressure begins to work and a spinning motion begins to due this great
Null Hypothesis and an Alternate Hypothesis Hypothesizing in business assists leadership in deciding which avenue to take for the overall health of the organization. This is done by allowing the business managers to make decisions after having full research. Business leaders have had to employ hypothesizing to facilitate the implementation of right decisions in their lines of duty. This is an important process because organizations are made or destroyed by the
(Livingston 2012) What are the positive aspects of this theory -explain how markets behave? Why? The positive aspects of this theory are that it identifies changes in the markets early. This helps investors to be able to purchase stocks when everyone has become overly pessimistic (leading to a massive selloff). At the same time, this theory helps to determine when the underlying trends could be changing (with investors becoming overly optimistic).
Linguistic relativity hypothesis argues that humans see colors less with their eyes than with their language. (Fountain, 1999) The linguistic relativity hypothesis is important to help in understanding the reasoning behind the way that thought processes develop with the different cultures. The thought processes determine how language comes about and the reasons that the same word can mean different things with different cultures. In the eyes of a linguist, colors are
HYPOTHESIS CHAPTER Hypothesis Chapter: Smart MaskTheory of Reasoned Action (TRA)The theory of reasoned action is one of the key theories for understanding consumer behavior, intention, and planned purchase for a specific product or service. The theory, formulated by Fishbein and Ajzen, attempts to predict the behavioral intention of the buyer based on two factors: the attitudes that would lead to adopting the buying behavior and the subjective norms that come
