By making students familiar and comfortable with authorities outside of their home environments, students are more prepared to meet the educational challenges of the classroom, to receive a greater exposure to the language of classroom instruction, and also to become more solidly grounded in English language skills and simple English vocabulary. Resource room instruction on a one-on-one basis in reading and ESL can provide additional assistance to overworked teachers. Cultural education must be a part of history and social studies as well, and in schools, particularly in urban arenas or areas of great socio-economic diversity. Sometimes, parents feel excluded from their children's educational environment. Thus, bringing parents into the classroom could be an ideal way to talk about their culture, food, and festivals of some but not all of the students of the classroom, to the teacher and to the students. In such venues, the teacher becomes a student him or herself.
Thus, the teacher must occasionally, in this new school of the future, break down the artificial walls of community and school, and bring the community into the school to teach and to learn, and also bring the school into the community to offer additional after school support in language education, English instruction, basic skills, and other areas of importance.
