Enterprise-Level Business System
Determination of Requirements -- Main Objectives
Create interactive website for consumers and vendors, rather than simply a visually interesting but non-useful website
Create functional internal system of Internet communication and a shared database for all staff at the company. Given company's limited numbers, this is feasible
Identify which specific analysis methods needed to accomplish this
Interviews with lead staff members to determine company needs and computer literacy
Submit questionnaires to current 800 phone staff to see what queries are most frequently submitted to lines
Consult with outside website creators and software analysis to construct blueprint of useable website and software analysis to determine most appropriate and comprehensive database system with firewall and anti-virus protection
B. Determination of these requirements: prototyping or, as prototyping is defined, thinking creatively about the plan for the new system and creating blueprint for new system
Prototype of website should include mandatory interactive components to its structure. Optional FAQ of frequently asked questions.
Internal network must have mandatory security password controls, to ensure security, and read only file component to limit editing of sensitive documents
Network must be integrated -- function both externally and internally
II. List of Confirmed Requirements
Mandatory interactive web component for consumers
Optional 'frequently asked questions' and trouble shooting phone number for consumers
Mandatory website name that attracts international traffic and 'hits' to expand company's international and regional scope
Mandatory interactive vendor site on website, accessed with password for vendors, for virtual online communication between vendors and company
Mandatory integrated internal Internet system for current employees -- facilitating internal Internet communication between all departments. Email addresses for all personnel and daily communication within all departments via email.
III. Proposed Logical System View

IV. Functional Allocation Modeling
A. Hardware
New computer network necessary for company, connecting all parties. Computer access for all employees.
Single database for internal and external communications, rather than separate communication databases.
B. Software
Suggested software for employees to use on home computers, to remain connected with work and to access human resources database.
Human resource database may need to be the one database kept separate from other databases. HR data may need to have a different password and system to confine this limited set of data particular to sensitive personal employee information.
Creation of general company database, rather than individual databases for all departments.
Use of anti-virus software to minimize dangers of file sharing within company and with outside individuals. Introduction of firewalls.
Use of excel spreadsheets confined to hard drive, rather than use of paper for management/executive needs.
Use of passwords to access system for all employees
Use of read only files rather than paper to ensure editing of sensitive documents does not take place. Also creation of 'backup' for all files.
