The Working of a Competitive Discussion

Communication is vital in any discussion as it is the sole means of passing information from one person to another. The information can be shared through vocal, visual, or non-verbal means. With proper communication, a person can express their opinion effectively to others in the panel and pass on the information they would like. However, without communication, the discussion becomes a one-sided conversation where one person is talking and the others are merely listening. During a discussion, communication will be used to inform and clarify what is being discussed. A person can interject and offer a contrasting opinion to the other person. However, this should be done professionally and the interjector should not insult the other panelists. Receiving feedback from the other panelists is vital as this demonstrates they are listening to what the other person is saying. This can be done through nodding or applauding.

Disparaging statements will harm the business being reviewed or the person being spoken about in the statement. The negative statement has the potential of damaging a business to an extent of the business closing down or losing customers. Social media is a powerful tool and if it is used wrongly, it can have devastating effects on a person or a business. In the world of today, people like to read reviews about a business before they purchase or make a booking with them. When there is a disparaging statement about the business, the customer will most likely be skeptical about the business and they might avoid making their purchase there. Therefore, while offering genuine feedback about a business is vital, there are times when the feedback could do more harm than good for the business. People tend to believe what they read from others than from the business itself. This means customers are highly likely to believe the negative comment over what the business says.
