From the onset, it would be prudent to note that on the basis of my experience of this particular course, I feel well-prepared to work with diverse groups of families. To a large extent, I feel that I have the prerequisite skills and abilities to help families in conflict resolution and enhance their communication. Thanks to this particular course, Ive come to learn that some individuals presenting with mental health problems often have a variety of other deep-rooted familial concerns that need to be addressed as well. This is to say that they could be having troubled relations with other members of the family resulting in conflict, anger, or stress. I have also come to learn that in some instances, the most effective interventions are those that rope in other members of the family. For instance, family therapy could come in handy in substance abuse treatment owing to the need to ensure that the client has adequate support in their recovery efforts.

Some of the skills that I have gathered, thanks to this particular course, are inclusive of the ability to assess how capable a family is to address certain deep-rooted concerns. I am also skilled in the exploration of the behavior patterns as well as familial rules and roles so as to correctly diagnose concerns that result in conflict. Further, I am confident in my ability to accurately define the various strengths of families and how the said strengths can be tapped or harnessed to promote better therapeutic outcomes.

Going forward, I am confident that I would be able to deploy the various skills that I have acquired to be an effective family counselor. Some of the skills that have been advanced by this particular course are inclusive of leadership skills, conflict resolution abilities, empathy, as well as effective communication skills.
