¶ … Interaction of Variables. Influence upon a psychological phenomenon

One of the most alarming trends in psychology is the increase in diagnoses of autism. No singular cause has yet to be determined to explain why autism rates have increased so rapidly, although an increase in efficacy of screening, most scientists believe, cannot entirely explain the spike in cases. A correlation between the ages of the mother of children with autism has been observed. "The older a mother is when she gives birth, the higher her child's risk of autism." (De Noon 2010). For example, "women over age 40 are 77% more likely than women under age 25 to have a child with autism" while "women under age 25 are 14% less likely than women aged 25-29 to have a child with autism" (De Noon 2010). The correlation between the father's age and the likelihood of a child developing autism was not as strong "but only when the child is born to a father over age 40 and a mother under age 30" (De Noon 2010).

One hypothesis is that changes in the parents' genetic makeup make their offspring more vulnerable to autism. Another study found that "some mothers of children with autism had antibodies to fetal brain protein, while none of the mothers of typical children did," and production of such antibodies increases with age (Autism rates much higher in children with older moms, 2012, Live Science). These excessive antibodies could prevent the older mothers' offspring from developing normally. The buildup of environmental toxins in the body over time in older parents could also increase the likelihood of developing of autism.
Another possibility is that individuals who are more likely to marry late and to have children late might be more prone to have genetic tendencies towards giving birth to a child with autism. Autism is an impairment of normal social functioning, and quite often one or both parents may have a more mild form of autism,…

Interaction of Variables Overeating: Interaction of variables As obesity rates climb, there has been a proliferation of research to determine what weight loss methods are effective and ineffective. However, human beings do not live in laboratories, and multiple factors can affect their eating and exercise behaviors. Of course, some studies attempt to meticulously track how many calories subjects consume and how much activity subjects engage in over a specific period of time.

Interaction Hormones Behavior, Interactions Affect Determination Gender Identity There are two important distinctions to be drawn, the biological determination of a human being's sex and the gender identity. The former cannot be denied as it is manifest and the complete distinction between a male and female in terms of organs and biological build up is manifest. The perception of an individual regarding who 'he' or 'she' is being defined as 'gender

The effect of high school socioeconomic status on the predictive validity of SAT scores and high school grade-point average. Journal of Educational Measurement, 48(2), 101-121. The reasons for this are unknown, although socioeconomic status (SES) is

The first flow of influence is disarming, the process of omitting any signs of power or control on the part of the seller. Second is liking, or how rapport is established and relationships are trigger with strangers. Third is distinctiveness, which refers to the degree that the seller's approach differs from others to which the buyer has been exposed. Williams (1998) suggests that firms who want to move from traditional

Cho and Song (2015) examine the determinants of whistleblowing behaviors in public administrative positions in their study by basing their approach on the work of Miceli and Near, who "argued that proactive personality, less co-worker invalidation, and leverage in the specific situation lead to whistleblowing" (p. 450). However, in their research, Cho and Song (2015)

Psychological Research and Patient-Practitioner Interaction The work of Like and Zyzanski (2002) reports that patient-practitioner transactions in the ambulatory setting have gained in importance in the research as there is "empirical support for our anecdotal, common-sense notions that clinical encounter experiences are a major determinant of outcomes such as the patient's satisfaction with the encounter. The study is reported to examine the issue of patient-physician encounter and asks the questions of:
