Macromedia's beginning can be found as a small company whose aim was to market the graphics software on pen computers. The important lesson that the founders of this company obtained through this experience was that users dislike to learn complex features in a program, therefore, the challenge lies in writing good software that is easy to use. Its one of the products SmartSketch as a success to provide users to draw on the computer.

With the advent of the Internet, the company began to focus on 2-D computer animation to enable users to create a profitable product. In the beginning its products were slow and programming was cumbersome. However, later it began to build its products with plug-in API, which extended the performance of the animation. We started to talk about shipping SmartSketch Animator.

In the summer of 1996, the company started to get a large share of recognition as its products were being used by Microsoft Networks, in which the company wanted to create the most television like experience. Its other high profile client besides Microsoft was Disney Online. Disney was using FutureSplash. Presently its animated products are being used in government agencies, K-12 education, higher education, rich internet applications, e-Learning, DVD playback, flash integration, JavaScript syntax, mobile devices, web services.

Each of the MX 2004 products shares a consistent interface, design, development elements and functionality to enable developers to work more efficiently across multiple products.

Using Studio MX with Flash Professional, developers can easily design Flash and HTML web forms, add components, integrate with data, and build in application logic and navigation. Other enhancements in ColdFusion MX 6.1 include modifications to dynamic e-mail generation that enable users to deliver messages more than 50 times faster than previous releases, improved installation and configuration tools, and bundled installation support that provides direct access to technical assistance. Major new versions of its products such as Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks tools continue to move the digital world from inaction to interactive experiences, while new products such as Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 are likely to bring the power of the Internet to a new class of advanced developers.
