The program was judge successful, and over several years' time, computers became the standard for record-keeping rather than the old approach of hand-writing everything. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using MBO for managing an organization? How can the disadvantages be overcome?

Everyone in an MBO approach has to agree that this will be the management system. One disadvantage is that sometimes people see important things that need to be done but that aren't part of established objectives. If the company has a communication system in place that encourages open and positive communication about objectives, the objectives can be added to or modified. In this way, all management will agree on the major goals, making it easier for everyone to work together.

They might be to increase market share in specific target markets, or to increase sales within the market already established. They are practical goals related to the primary functions of the business or organization.
Tactical goals specify the things a business or organization or company will do to meet its strategic and operational goals. They are the road map employees can follow to accomplish the tasks they need to accomplish. All three types of goals integrate with each other in a good MBO approach to business.
