Senior Management Memo consulting the ongoing campaigns XYZ COMPANY SENIOR Management CAMPAIGN After a lengthy preview on unionized and union free campaign, I would like to inform about company operations and management under the two environments. Workers under unionized environment follow a process for airing their complaints. Workers under union free environment present their complaints in the courts, as well as to the management. In contrast, employees can sue workers when they do unlawfully against the workplace.

This is of considerable advantage to the business management under unionized environment as the collective agreement will be of significant assistance to the business, that is, case laws of past years against the business will not pile up and be used against the business in a court of law by the employee. Since, under unionized environment, employees undergo collective bargaining, it often follows work jurisdiction. The management often concentrates on the output according on the agreement. This is opposed to union free environment.

The workers under unionized environment will hence have to complete their work as bargained in the contract. Under union free environment, workers are not often contract employed hence breaching of one's right could only be solved in court, either the employer or the employee. Most employees will always prefer to work in a union free environment since their needs will still be met without unions. However, with time as the employee's needs are not met they turn to unions that will then cater and fight for their needs.

Unions provide a basis for increasing leadership and job opportunities, due to the high specialization and division of labor. (Bogardus, 2007). Managing the business under unionized environment means higher administrative cost, (25-35%) higher than working under union free environment (Bergeron, 2008). Increased cost under unionized environment could arouse due to several strikes by workers, cost due to additional labor and payment of overtime and addition of human resource members. Such expenses could also accrue due to the dues employees pay to such unions.

During campaigns, management representatives are allowed to carry out campaigns to win, as long as what they are campaigning is legal. They are expected to keep campaign secrets about coming elections, until petitions are signed, especially for unionized elections. Managers of such elections should be flexible and should not ignore the people's voice. They should employ decisive techniques to solve problems and issues of the people concerned. Similarly, they should act as a team since they represent their fellow workers and co-workers.

Management representatives should provide enough time for workers to participate in decision-making and in negotiations. Representatives should create time, especially when workers are free, and should consider slightest complaints of any worker as it can be crucial to individual and hence should not go unanswered. They should also resource adequate reasons concerning the necessity to participate in various negotiations and the importance to act as one body, as a team, and effectiveness of being unified.

Such representatives should also be transparent in the decisions they partake, and every member should participate in the decision-making. This is achieved by constantly emphasizing on regular conversation with the workers. They should inform workers on the financial stability and.
