Nurses in South African community play a role in many important ways to the enhancement of individuals' health. They are pioneers of changes to systems in the community that assist the health. Besides, they play key roles in dealing with illness, impairment, and damage protection and in promotion of health. Nurses in this community function in progressively diverse environments like community health centers, educational institutions, street clinics, youth centers, and medical outposts with different associates whilst fulfilling the health needs of the communities around them.
Nursing is mainly assisting individuals (sick or well) in the performance of those actions leading to wellness, or its restoration (or to a relaxing death) that they would execute unaided if they had the necessary strength, will, or information. It is the exclusive contribution of nurses to help individuals to be independent of such assistance as soon as possible. Nurses are temporarily the consciousness of the subconscious, the love of life of people seeking suicide, the leg of the amputee, the sight of the recently sightless, a means of locomotion for the infant, information and confidence for the young mothers, a speech for those too poor to talk, and so on.
This role, as just defined, is the one most of us wish someone will execute when we need 'nursing' and I believe no other healthcare staff wants to claim it or take it from nursing staff. As such, this role is infinitely complicated. This is because it needs identification and knowing all types of individuals whether male and female, babies, the mature, the middle-aged and the older, the ignorant and the learned, the wealthy and the poor, and people of all races. This idea of the nurse's exclusive role requires them to comprehend the essential needs of human beings. This will enable them help their customers or patients offer for all those needs or create their lifestyles as regular and effective as possible.
