Exxon Mobile and Game Theory Analysis ExxonMobil is the world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas company that operates in an industry that is dominated by several large firms (Exxonmobil, N.d.). On the international level, there are barriers to entry that make it difficult for new entrants to emerge, the product is considered a commodity, and as a result many have argued that this industry most likely follows the oligopoly market structure. The oil and gas industry as a whole is made up of three main types of activities in either upstream, midstream, or downstream industry segments which include such functions as exploration, extraction, transporting unprocessed raw materials, processing the materials in refineries, and further downstream conversions which will eventually lead to the finish products.

The oil and gas industries is arguably the most important industries in the world given the fact that it fuels much of the energy that drives modern economies. Given the importance of the industry to virtually all areas of the global society, many people have worked to understand the options available to the main competitors in the oligopoly by building an applying different models to better understand the dynamics with in this situation. The industry is market by high demand from all sectors as well as an increasing...

Furthermore, many of the agreements made within this industry are based on joint venture projects that carry significant amounts of risk. This has prompted the use of advanced models to help deal with the levels of complexity that arise in the arrangements in this industry.
The game theoretic model is a simulation model for strategic interaction in a rivalry situation between two players, each focusing on the rival behavior in an attempt to anticipate their likely action to determine their own; the model is built on the assumption of rational behavior, which is common to most microeconomic models (Roy, 2003). Basically, if you were to consider how your competitors might act to best optimize their own self-interest based on their situation, then you could devise your own strategy to optimize your own strategy that is built upon an estimation of your competitors most likely action. Other advantages of using models that can handle massive levels of complexity is that they can be preprogrammed in ways that allow for quick decision-making processes based on information that is updated in real-time…

A small company can slash prices and thus make crucial market inroads against major competitors, like Kiwi Airlines, or conversely a large company can make more effective use of economies of scale. Game theory is not equally useful to all industries, in general the larger the industry, the more difficult it is to create accurate scenarios, as eventually the variables that must be analyzed grow too complex and numerous.

Pervasive Video Games as Art The form and function of art has evolved and changed quite a bit over the years, decades and millennia. Paintings and sculpture have been artistic mainstays for much to most of the world of the civilized human race. However, with the technological revolution that has roared up over the last fifty years or so, new forms of art have bubbled to the proverbial surface. Digital technology

Peak Oil The global oil industry covered all of Earth's continents in search of oil, and the limited results that they found prompted geologist M. King Hubbert to declare an impending peak oil situation; but the prospect of peak oil has not been reached more than 60 years later, and in fact, the rate of new oil prospectus has been growing in the past decade. The reason for this is sheer

Environmental Law The offshore oil and gas industry is complex in its rules and regulations There are many different regulatory bodies that have some control over the industry, and they do not always work together as well as they should. This can become a serious issue for companies that are interested in oil and gas production, because they can have trouble keeping all the regulations straight. With UNCLOS, MARPOL, OSPAR, and the

Marxist ideas have also provided as a starting point for many of the modern feminist theorists. Despite these applications, Marxism of any variety is still a minority position among American sociologists (Conflict Theory, 2000). Marx's sociology state that: 1. Thus classes formed by property divisions, slaves and slave-owners, serfs and lords, capitalists and

Because promises are usually kept, it is usually reasonable to rely on a promise, and promises are usually relied upon. (p. 1) Despite its centrality to the human condition, the social practice of promising remains primitive and incomplete in comparison to other disciplines such as mathematics and linguistics (Mather, 1999). When it comes to the promises contained in contracts of any type, there are some general guidelines but these do
