Part 1

From the onset, it would be prudent to note that for this exercise, I selected ‘dating’ – specifically in relation to online safety while dating. One of the things that I learnt is that regardless of how strict one’s privacy settings are, the privacy of content shared online or social media posts cannot be really guaranteed. For this reason, there is need to ensure that in keeping in touch with others – i.e. close friends or partners – overly personal or sensitive information is not shared. Secondly, I got to learn that when one encounters situations that involve harassment in the online realm, documentation could come in handy. Thus, in such scenarios, one should document all the relevant comments, posts, as well as messages so as to reference them accordingly if the need to contact the relevant agencies, i.e. law enforcement officers, ever arises. Third, I got to learn that when one exists an unhealthy relationship, there may be need to ensure that their ex-partner is blocked on all social media accounts. To a large extent, this is instrumental in efforts to minimize the possibility of ‘stalking’ – especially given that location information could be used against someone in the online arena.

Part 2

There are a wide range of nutrition programs available to both children and their families. Some of the meal programs in place at present are inclusive of, but they are not limited to; School Nutrition Programs, Summer Food Service Programs, etc. For instance, under the School Nutrition Programs, private nonprofit schools as well as public schools have access to milk and meal programs. On the other hand, under the Summer Food Service Programs, children from low income areas could benefit from vacation period federal meal programs. Some of the meal and snack programs listed by California AfterSchool Network, which could also be available to my students, are inclusive of the California Summer Meal Coalition, the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and California Food Advocates.

A child in need of additional nutritional support could exhibit a wide range of signs. Some of the telltale signs one could be on the lookout for are low weight and delayed growth. Other equally important signs are inclusive of, but they are not limited to; difficulty in concentrating, constant irritability and tiredness, lack of appetite, etc. Further, a child who easily gets sick and takes longer to recover from an illness could be in need of nutritional support.
