In forensics, samples of fluids, glass, dust, paint, fibers and other hairs, fibers and other substances solve crimes when they are tested and processed at the crime scene and in the labs of a forensic medical examiner and the office of the investigators correctly. Many of these cases are built directly from the samples taken at the scene as well as with the photographs that are the evidence that a District Attorney will need to prosecute a perpetrator. Substance samples can be either inorganic or organic. In terms of its composition, organic fluid evidence traces can determine a lot about the DNA of a person/persons that has committed a crime. Fluids such as saliva, sweat, semen and vomit can be run through a large body of testing in a medical lab to determine if the DNA found at a scene of a crime matches a criminal in a central database (Maithil, 2008, 5).

The testing of body fluids may tell a medical examiner if a person is male or female or has a type of disease/defect. A crime scene may have clues as to where the crime occurred by the analysis of spray, a puddle or path of blood and/or fluids when tester through a central database. Blood testing of fluids can help forensics experts to find a victim's or criminal blood samples. This may allow investigators a theory of what went down in a crime scene (ibid).

A bite mark can be found on a body and a cast can be made to give technicians whether or not the criminal has crooked, crowns, straight, or expensive dental work by running the evidence through a dental records system. It can additionally offer evidence like dried blood and saliva. A major strength of this type of evidence is that it involves a physical collection of evidence thus eliminating chances for deviation. Evidence like broken windows or furniture are chosen while using this method and they can be positively identified in a court of law Inorganic evidence is also effective in solving a criminal case than organic evidence . This is because inorganic evidence is mostly based upon running the data through an a central database like the FBI's CODIS to see if there is a match (Schoester, 2006, 31-42)

The Strengths/Weaknesses of Inorganic Evidence

A major strength of this type of evidence is it involves the physical collection of crime scene evidence. Evidences such as broken furniture or windows or are picked that is able to be positively identified in court. Inorganic evidence is also effective in solving a criminal case than organic evidence. This is due to the fact that inorganic evidence is based upon an individual's judgment to make it possible to eliminate possibilities give a crime investigator a chance to be more in touch with the crime scene.
