¶ … Philanthropic Support Nonprofit Organization Analysis The capitalist era has led to the emerge and development of numerous profit centers, usually taking the form of forms, companies, or corporations. Along with these profit-oriented organizations, a series of nonprofit organizations have been developed in order to counteract the damages brought by companies, the government, or other stakeholders to the society. The basis of the nonprofit sector in the U.S. is represented by the civil rights movement, President Johnson's Great Society, President Nixon's New Federalism.
Initially, nonprofit organizations focused on fighting for the freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and then oriented towards charitable activities. After World War II, the activity of these nonprofit organizations intensified, their percentage in the economy continuously increasing. The economic growth that characterized the 1950s and 1960s helped nonprofit organizations expand their activity and become a reliable sector (CAN, 2010). The nonprofit, government, and business sector address the same stakeholders. Each of these sectors interferes with the other sectors, influencing each other's activities.
But the differences between them do not allow them to address similar objectives often. The nonprofit sector is designed in order to improve the quality of life of the society's members and the quality of the environment, including all its components. Although the government's activity is also directed towards organizing and controlling the standards that must be met by individuals or organizations when developing their activities, its priorities, strategies, and manner of manifestation differ from those of nonprofit organizations.
The business sector seems to be quite the opposite of nonprofit organizations, if one analyzes the issue from a financial point-of-view. Most people consider the governmental and the business sector as opposed to nonprofit organizations. But this is not always the case. There are numerous examples that reveal the fact that companies provide help for campaigns developed by nonprofit organizations in order to support the community in which they activate. The value that nonprofit organizations provide to the public can be analyzed from several perspectives.
The main value created by such organizations consists in the fact that they actually improve the situation of the individuals they target, and of the community of which these people are part of. For example, during its activity, Save the Children has made significant changes in the lives of children across the world. The organization has managed to build branches in most countries, and to address a series of issues that the government in such countries was unable to resolve.
The organization initiated several campaigns, one of them focusing on sending the children in poor countries to school and helping them achieve an educational standard that would allow for their development and for the development of the community. In other words, Save the Children manages to improve the conditions of the individuals and of the community. Given the difference between the objectives of nonprofit and for profit organizations, it seems to be more difficult to efficiently manage a nonprofit organization in comparison with a company.
This is because individuals working in nonprofit organizations cannot be financially motivated in order to reach the efficiency and quality standards imposed by the organization's managers. A good leadership strategy consists in the collaboration between organizations. There are numerous nonprofit organizations, and some of them address the same issue or category of people, and also activate in the same area. This creates a competition situation in such cases, if one can accept the possibility of competition in the nonprofit sector.
Such organizations should collaborate in order to achieve their common objectives in the area in case and set an example to be followed by the personnel working for these organizations and by the community. Also, in order for the nonprofit organization to increase its efficiency, it is recommended that the personnel working for them are members of the community addressed by the organization. This increases the level of responsibility and dedication of personnel, therefore increasing the efficiency of the organization.
Managers in the nonprofit sector must find new strategies intended to motivate personnel. In order to achieve this objective, it is recommended to develop and implement strategies designed to increase the level of responsibility and adhesion to the.
