¶ … Room We spent about fifteen years in the house in which we are presently living. After spending a considerable time in this house, I came to the conclusion that the house had a character of its own. A similar case is with a room within the house. A room possesses certain characteristics that distinguish it from other rooms. These characteristics may include a unique look of the room itself, which one may not find elsewhere. There was a small room in my house, which was used for several purposes. This room was located in the second floor of the house and a wooden staircase led up to it. This was the only room at the second floor and rest of the house was at the first level.

This room strangely had always been called the study even though no one ever used the room for the purpose of studying. Instead of this, it was used for several other activities....

For instance, it was used for playing games and spending some spare time alone. I have several memories associated with that room. When I was younger, I used this room as a playroom. It had a large trunk full of toys, which would be scattered all over the floor, and at the end of the day mom would make me put them away. With the span of time, as I grew older, I installed a stereo phonograph system and eventually a television crammed into this room.
The study had a huge window overlooking the backyard. It was because of this window that the room appeared to be much larger although the actual size of the room was not that large. A couch was placed just opposite to the window. Although the tan couch was old enough and some of its parts were worn out and frayed at the edges but it was still very comfortable.
