Learning how to say no, without fear will be a challenge but something I think will be good for me. I will also need to learn how to ask for help, especially in my early days, without fear of being looked upon as incompetent or somehow less than capable of performing my duties. Perhaps I need to take a break, reorganize my schedule, and get into counseling again if I am not currently attending. It is important that I try to identify the elements of burnout that are specific to my personality and be aware of them before they start to cause problems for me and for my patients and colleagues alike. If I have a plan before I start, then it is likely I will be able to minimize the impact that burnout has on me.
